1926 NY Yankees Panoramic Team Photo Display
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,025.00
Extraordinary oversized panoramic team photo display of the 1926 Yankees, measuring 22 x 39.75 inches, long ago hung in Yankee Stadium. During the 1973 renovation of Yankee Stadium, the gallery of large Yankee team photographs which were displayed throughout the stadium were removed and fortunately salvaged, with most eventually finding their way into the hands of collectors. According to our research, there was exactly one huge team photo display at Yankee Stadium for each Yankee championship team. The 1926 Yankees, highlighted by Ruth, Gehrig, and the many other stars of the mid-1920s Yankees, would certainly be considered among the best by most. The 1926 Yankees won the American League pennant with a 91-63 record, but were ultimately defeated by the Cardinals in the World Series. These unique and very large format panoramic team photographs mounted on thick board are tremendous for display, and their provenance as former Yankee Stadium displays gives them an added dimension of significance to collectors. The photo is clean with a hint of cosmetic touch-up along the edges, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, otherwise Ex-Mt. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,025.00
