1935 Pebble Beach Clothiers Lefty O'Doul Signed Postcard

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $1,840.00

In 1935 Pebble Beach Clothiers issued this rare postcard series, featuring selected players of the three Bay Area PCL teams (the Oakland Oaks, Mission Reds, and San Francisco Seals). Offered is a sample of Lefty O'Doul, one of the greatest legends of the Pacific Coast League. When issued, these cards were distributed already autographed by the featured player (making these very likely the earliest as issued autographed cards). This example has been flawlessly signed by O'Doul in black fountain pen ("10"). The corners of the reverse exhibit a hint of glue remnants from at one time being mounted in a scrapbook and carefully removed, otherwise in Excellent condition. An exceptional example of one of the 1930s and PCL card collecting's rarest sets. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $1,840.00
