1944 Homestead Grays Team Photograph

Original photograph (8" x 10") captures the 1944 Homestead Grays Negro National League Champions in a traditional team pose. This team includes Hall of Famers Buck Leonard, "Cool Papa" Bell, and future Hall of Famers Ray Brown and Jud Wilson. Players, team, date and place are neatly identified on photo. This photograph was taken at Griffith Stadium by Wright & Riley of Washington D.C. The Wright & Riley photographers stamp appears in the lower right. Tremendous professional presentation photograph of the Grays nearing the end of their nine year pennant run. From the estate of Buck Leonard. Excellent condition. Beautifully framed to dimensions of 14 x 15 ½ inches. Accompanied by a second original photograph (8" x 10") of 1944 Homestead Grays manager "Candy" Jim Taylor, in uniform, on the field (scrapbook paper on reverse, otherwise Ex.) Reserve $200.
