Lou Gehrig Signed & Inscribed Testimonial Dinner Menu Page

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $3,162.50

New York Yankee baseball legend Lou Gehrig has beautifully signed and inscribed this menu page (5.5 x 8.25 inches), "To my little Pal - Billy Jacobsen, Cordially, Lou Gehrig" ("8/9") in pencil. Gehrig has signed beneath his picture, which is captioned "Iron Man." The page is printed on a thick paper stock. The evening's menu appears on the reverse. We believe this page was removed from a multi-page menu/program, but are not certain. Gehrig earned the nickname "Iron Man" because of his record-setting 2,130 consecutive games played from 1925 to 1939. This is a very unusual Gehrig signed item, with a very large and impressive signature. Minor faults include a pinhole at top center, and a couple of small ink scribbles, but otherwise in Vg-Ex condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $3,162.50
