1945 Joe Tinker Handwritten Letter
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,840.00
One-page handwritten and signed letter dated January 7, 1945 is a warm response from Joe Tinker to one of his young fans with an appreciation for the history of the game. Tinker writes as follows: "Dear Johnnie,Your letter received and I wish I could tell you some of my best thrills but Johnnie I can't write much at this time as I am shaky. It was swell of you to write me and I want to thank you for your kindness. I want you to write some time later and I will say and tell you what you wish me to. Best of luck young man. Joe Tinker." The signature and all writing is virtually flawless, grading a solid a "9" on a scale of "1 to 10," and the letter is Near Mint condition with original fold lines from mailing. Tinker letters are scarce. This is a particularly exceptional example, and is accompanied by its original mailing envelope, which has been addressed entirely in Tinker's hand. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,840.00
