1919 World Series Ticket Game 6 at Cincinnati
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,600.00
Full ticket stub to Game 6 of the 1919 World Series. The reference to "Game 3" on the ticket actually refers to the third World Series game played at Cincinnati, October 7, 1919. Cincinnati was just a game away from taking the series in front of their hometown fans, leading 4-0 after four innings, but the Black Sox fought back to tie the score in the sixth inning, eventually winning the game 5-4 in 10 innings. The Reds were still up 4 to 2 games in the best of nine game series, eventually claiming victory over the Black Sox in nine games. This is a beautifully preserved ticket from baseball's most controversial World Series, from a game in which the White Sox appear to have played to win. Very clean both front and back, no creases, a little corner wear, overall in Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,600.00
