Frank Frisch Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,587.50
Extremely attractive red and blue stitched Reach "Wallace & Cook Special League" brand baseball, brilliantly signed on the sweet spot by Frank Frisch ("8/9") in black fountain pen. This is an extraordinary single-signed Frisch ball, an ideal example with a vintage signature, worthy of the most advanced collection. Most Frisch singles date from very late in his life, with a choppy, shaky signature. This ball presents a fluid, early, vintage signature of "The Old Flash" on a circa 1930s baseball. Frisch was the manager and leader of the "Gashouse Gang." He batted .316 lifetime, was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1931, and participated in eight World Series championships during his 19 Major League seasons. Frisch was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. This is, in our opinion, the finest Frisch single we have ever seen or offered. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $2,587.50
