Spectacular 1939 Babe Ruth Signed New York World's Fair Laurel Card

Babe Ruth ("10") has flawlessly signed this 1939 World's Fair Laurel Card, which was issued by the Academy of Sport, in black ink. These cards were presented to each student who attended the daily sports clinics sponsored by the Academy of Sport at the 1939 World's Fair. The clinics featured many famous sports personalities of the day, who volunteered their time to instruct youngsters on the finer points of the game, and routinely signed these souvenir cards for attendees. The card has been filled out in the recipient's name and is in Near Mint condition overall. It would be hard to imagine a more impressive Ruth signature. This spectacular Ruth signed Laurel card was once a part of the legendary Barry Halper Collection. It appeared in the famous Halper auction as lot #1170 and at that time sold for $3,450. Possibly the single finest of the literally hundreds of Ruth signatures in the Halper Collection, this is a simply extraordinary example, which would be a highlight Ruth signed item in any collection.
