1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $690.00
Twenty-six members of the 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates have signed this ONL (Feeney) ball in blue ink. Signatures include Roberto Clemente ("8"), Willie Stargell ("8," signed just "Stargell"), Bill Virdon (sweet spot), Al Oliver, Bill Mazeroski, Steve Blass, Richie Hebner, Manny Sanguillen (signed last name only), Vic Davalillo (clubhouse), Dave Giusti, Gene Alley, Dock Ellis, Luke Walker, Nelson Briles (signed twice), Bob Miller, Milt May, Gene Clines, Bob Johnson, Rennie Stennett (clubhouse), Bruce Kison, Bob Robertson, Jose Pagan, Bob Moose, and two others we could not identify. The 1972 Pirates won 96 games and finished first in the NL Eastern Division, only to lose to the Reds in a dramatic NLCS five-game series. This would be Clemente's last season before his tragic death. The signatures grade "8" overall. The ball is slightly worn with some very light spots of toning, suggesting this may have been a game ball; overall Vg-Ex. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $690.00
