1940s Satchell Paige and Josh Gibson Signed Baseball

Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $4,887.50

Josh Gibson and Satchell Paige will always be two of the most legendary, magic names of Negro League baseball. There are few vintage signed Satchell Paige baseballs, and very few Josh Gibson signatures in any form. Offered is a simply extraordinary rarity, a circa-1940s baseball signed by Satchell Paige and Josh Gibson. They are the only two signatures on the ball. There are some condition problems, specifically an abrasion that eliminates all but a small portion of Gibson's first name, but the very fact that Gibson's signature is on the ball at all, let alone with Paige's, and the fact that both immortals have added significant notations identifying their respective teams ("Kansas City Monarchs" for Paige, "Homestead Grays" for Gibson), make this one of the most extraordinary signed baseballs in the collecting world. We have heard of the existence of only one other Paige-Gibson ball. This is the first we have ever handled. This is a "miracle ball," which aside from the abrasion is an ideal example of one of the most special double-signed baseballs which could possibly exist. The Satchell Paige signature grades a "7" on a scale of "1 to 10." The last name of the Josh Gibson signature is particularly strong, grading "9." Aside from the one serious abrasion affecting Gibson's signature, the ball has a few minor scuffs, and is in Very Good condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA and Kevin Keating/QAMV. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000. SOLD FOR $4,887.50
