Jim Rice 1984 All-Star Game Ring

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,300.00

Major League Baseball presented Jim Rice with this ring in honor of his selection to the American League All-Star team in 1984. The ring features a facsimile diamond in the center, set in a blue stone, surrounded by "Baseball All-Star" in raised letters around the face. One side of the ring reads "1984 Candlestick Park" and features the Major League Baseball logo. The opposite side has the official logo designed for the game, which incorporates the words "San Francisco Giants" and "All-Star Game." The letters "LGB GTC" are engraved on the interior of the band. The ring is size 12. Rice presented this ring as a gift to our consignor, a friend of Rice who years ago worked in the Yankee organization. It is accompanied by a letter from Rice. The letter is written on New York Yankees stationery, and reads "To Bill, Hope you'll accept my 1984 All Star Ring as a token of our friendship. Best Wishes, Jim Rice 9-16-84" ("9"). A feared slugger who played his entire 16-year career with the Boston Red Sox, Jim Rice finished with 382 home runs, having led the league in round trippers three times. He also captured the AL MVP Award in 1978 and was named to the All-Star team eight times. In 1984, Rice hit 28 homers and drove in 122 runs. The ring is in Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,300.00
