1940 "Hal" Reese (Pee Wee) Rookie Game-Used Bat
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $4,887.50
Extremely rare Pee Wee Reese H&B bat dates from Reese's rookie 1940 season. The signature model bat (pre-model #) is uncracked and displays evidence of outstanding game use with ball hit and cleat marks clearly visible. The signature model carries the branding "Hal" Reese because Reese at this early stage of his playing career had not yet become known as "Pee Wee." The left barrel has five depressions and the back of the barrel has several depressions, which are not attributed to game use. The labeling period for the bat is 1938 to 1940. Because Reese's rookie year was 1940, we can date this bat specifically to 1940. This is an extremely rare, and very possibly unique, game bat of Hall of Famer Pee Wee Reese dating from his rookie season. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 31.5 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A6.5. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic and John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $4,887.50
