1955-57 Hank Aaron Game-Used Bat

Starting Bid - $5,000.00, Sold For - $13,800.00

Incredible Hillerich & Bradsby model R43 game-used bat dates from 1955 or 1957, Aaron's second or fourth season in the majors. Any Hank Aaron game-used bat dating from even the late 1950s is extraordinary and very rare, but this R43 model, which can be dated specifically to either 1955 or 1957 is especially desirable. This is one of the earliest Aaron bats known to exist. To the best of our knowledge, no 1954 Aaron rookie bat game bat is known, making this bat (without reference to later models which are significant because they were used to hit important home runs) one of the finest standard-issue Hank Aaron bats in existence. This model R43 bat displays excellent game use including numerous deeply embedded ball marks and red bat rack marks. In 1955 Aaron led the league with 37 doubles and hit .314 with 27 home runs, establishing himself as one of the game's most promising stars. 1957 was perhaps Aaron's most important seasons, being his only World Championship season. He hit .322, led the league with 44 home runs, 118 runs scored, and 132 RBIs, and led the Braves to victory over the Yankees in the World Series. This is an extraordinary Aaron game-used bat, picture-perfect and ideal in all respects, which H&B shipping records allow us to date with certainty to one of only two seasons, and a bat which purists will always distinguish as one of the finest of all Hank Aaron bats in existence. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 33 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A7.5. LOAs from Dan Knoll & Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic and John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$15,000. SOLD FOR $13,800.00
