1909-11 Colgan's Chips Display with Wagner
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $3,162.50
Very rare metal Colgan's Chips store display (6.25 x 7 inches) is designed to dispense the small round tins in which Colgan's Chips ("The Gum That's Round") were sold. We have never seen another example of this Colgan's point-of-sale advertising piece. The advertising dispenser has some minor imperfections including some rust, but displays beautifully, and is in overall Vg-Ex condition. Accompanying the dispenser are: 1) Two original Colgan's tins (both Ex), which each once held the round gum and an E254 Colgan's Chips baseball card, and 2) An E254 Colgan's Chips card of Honus Wagner (very clean and attractive card which appears Ex, but is technically Vg-Ex due to a couple of very tiny creases). Wagner, of course, is not just one of the key stars of the set, but also a spokesman for Colgan's, allowing his likeness to be used in Colgan's advertising and promotional materials. Together, the point-of-sale store tin dispenser, two tins, and the Colgan's card of Wagner can be assembled to create a simply amazing and unique display. Total 4 items. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $3,162.50
