1935 R321 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $14,950.00
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Exceptionally high-grade example of the key card from the 1935 Goudey "4-in-1" set, featuring Babe Ruth on his final card issued as a player during his playing days. This is a fascinating card. While Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth's card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Maranville. The puzzle back section on the reverse is "Picture 5 Card A." 1935 Goudeys are very rarely found in high grade. The color flush-to-the-border design of 1935 Goudey makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. This is an extraordinary high-grade example, with bright and flawless colors, perfect centering, clean front and back, and with virtually perfect edges and corners. It is rare to find even a common R321 this sharp, let alone Babe Ruth. This is a magnificent, exceptionally high-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most significant cards. As of this writing, there have been only seven 1935 Goudey Ruths which have been graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, with no examples graded higher. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000. SOLD FOR $14,950.00
