1960-1971 Bazooka Set Collection (5 Sets)

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $2,875.00

Five complete Bazooka sets in panels as follows: 1) 1960 Bazooka set (12 panels, 36 cards): Sharp-looking set all Ex to Ex-Mt with the exception of the following three panels: 1-3 (Vg-Ex due to corner wear), 31-33 Mantle panel is crisp and clean but suffers from a particularly poor cut in the lower left, 34-36 is Vg-Ex. 2) 1964 Bazooka set (12 panels, 36 cards). Near Mint collection. 3) 1965 Bazooka set (12 panels, 36 cards): 11 panels Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, one panel (16-18) Vg-Ex. 4) 1967 Bazooka (16 panels, 48 cards): 14 panels Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, two panels Vg-Ex to Vg-Ex/Ex (10-12, 40-42). 5) 1971 Bazooka unnumbered variety (12 panels including one complete unassembled box, 36 cards): 11 panels Vg-Ex/Ex to Ex-Mt (averaging Ex), the Jackson panel is Mint on a complete never-assembled box. Condition note: Five of the 1960 panels and all of the panels of the four 1960s sets have a year notation in ink on the reverse. This was a very common practice by collectors in the "old days" to help organize panels into sets and identify the year of issue, as Bazookas do not have the year printed on them. These reverse year notations are not taken into account in the above listed grades. Also included with the collection are an additional seven high-grade early 1960s panels: six 1961 Bazooka panels including 10-12 Mathews, 22-24 Mays, 25-27 Drysdale, 31-33 F. Robinson; plus the key 1962 Bazooka panel featuring Mickey Mantle (Mahaffey-Mantle-Stuart, there were no numbers in 1962). All 7 of these additional panels are in Nr/Mt condition. This is a very clean and impressive looking collection of these unusual, scarce, and underrated Bazooka Bubble Gum package design cards. Total 59 Bazooka panels (177 cards) representing 5 complete panel sets plus 7 additional 3-card panels. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $2,875.00
