Charlie Chaplin Signed Fingerprints
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,380.00
Charlie Chaplin has put his fingerprints on this 7 x 6 inch page, and added the inscription and signature below, "The Culprit - Charlie Chaplin" ("9") in blue fountain pen. This is a rare artifact literally made from the hand of this great comic genius and film pioneer. This signed fingerprint sheet has a very interesting story which has been related to us. When Chaplin was fingerprinted during the filming of a movie scene, the fingerprint sheet was thrown out. An admirer fished it out of the trash and asked if she could have it. Chaplin approved, and offered to sign it, which he did, with the special inscription. Chaplin was recognized with a special achievement Academy Award in 1972, twenty years after he left America to avoid persecution for his perceived political and moral beliefs. Accompanied by an exceptional original 1918 Charlie Chaplin heavy-stock lobby card style advertising still (8 x 10 inches) for the movie A Dog's Life which is ideal for display with the signed page. The page has two light fold lines, a few very minor wrinkles, and four pinholes along the edges. Despite minor flaws, still overall Excellent appearance. A fascinating and unique signed display piece from the hand of "The Little Tramp." LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad and John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
