11/22/63 Assassination Date JFK Dinner Ticket
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,035.00
If John F. Kennedy had not been assassinated on November 22, 1963, he would have attended a special dinner held in his honor, which was scheduled for 7:30 PM on that evening. Offered is a beautifully preserved original ticket to the Texas Welcoming Dinner of John F. Kennedy scheduled for November 22, 1963. The 3 x 4.5 inch gold ticket with black lettering reads in full: "The State Democratic Executive Committee/Texas Welcome Dinner/In Honor of/President John F. Kennedy/and/Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson/Municipal Auditorium City of Austin/Seven-Thirty O'Clock/Friday Evening/November 22, 1963/Admit One*Optional Dress." The ticket is stamped "No. D 9768" in the lower right corner. The ticket is affixed to a slightly larger piece of heavy black construction paper, possibly from a scrapbook in which it was saved. It is often repeated that anyone alive then can instantly recall their whereabouts on November 22, 1963 as shock waves raced through the country following the assassination of the President. This never-used ticket presents a chilling reminder of just how time seemed to freeze at that very moment. This is a remarkable item relating to the Kennedy assassination. The ticket remains in remarkably fine condition, with the only imperfection being some slight wear around the edges and at the corners from normal handling. Excellent condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,035.00
