Original Luis Dominguez Cover Painting for Eerie #43 (Nov. 1972)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $920.00

Presented is the original Luis Dominguez cover painting for Eerie #43, published in November of 1972. The cover features a terrified man being attacked by a pack of bloodthirsty ghouls, who have just broken into the house by smashing through the doors, replacing in a most uncomfortable manner what appears to have been quiet solitude with deadly chaos. Not a particularly comforting scene, but par for the course for Warren's Eerie magazine. The painting displays a distinctly three-dimensional quality, with an appearance of great depth that draws you into the horrific scene. This issue would mark a very significant milestone in Warren Publishing history, being the issue in which Bill DuBay took charge as editor. Included with the cover painting is a copy of the magazine upon which it appeared. Measures 15 x 22 inches, executed on board, signed by the artist in the lower right. Some minor corner chipping, which is mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, and a piece of tape in the upper right (related to use in production, and which can no doubt easily be removed if desired), otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $920.00
