1895 Princeton-Yale-Harvard Trophy Baseball
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $1,840.00
Extraordinary silver trophy ball is very elaborately decorated as follows: "Campaign of 1895 Yale-Princeton-Harvard May 11 Harvard 2 Princeton 7." All inscriptions with the exception of the school names (which are in block letters) are in extremely ornate script. This trophy ball is from a round robin style tournament, which was held involving these three top college teams. There are very few trophy balls known to exist dating from the 1890s. This is one of the most unusual, magnificently crafted, and beautiful trophy baseballs we have ever seen. Minor crazing and soiling, but still overall in Excellent condition. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $1,840.00
