High-Grade 1935 R89 Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum Card Collection (20)
Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $4,600.00
Extraordinary ultra-high grade collection of 20 different 1935 Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum cards issued by Gum, Inc. The exceptionally colorful graphics and popular subject matter of this issue make it one of the all-time classics of non-sport card collecting. Mickey Mouse cards are substantially rarer than their baseball card counterparts of the same era. They are also much rarer to find in extremely high grade than 1930s Goudey baseball issues. Offered is a collection of 20 cards, representing approximately 20% of the 96-card set, in extraordinarily high grade. Each card has been graded by PSA. The following 16 of the 20 cards have been graded NM-MT 8 by PSA: #4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 20, 22, 28, 29, 30, 36, 39, 41, 88. The four remaining cards have been graded NM 7 by PSA: #1, 2, 34, 38. All are of the Type II variety, with the exception of #22 which is Type I. For many of these cards, as of this writing, only one or two cards have been graded at the level presented. There has never been a Mickey Mouse card graded MINT 9 by PSA, thus virtually all of the cards in this lot are the highest graded examples to date. This lot includes card #1, which is notoriously difficult to find in this set (as well as almost all vintage sets) in high grade. This is an extremely significant collection of twenty of the finest examples known to exist of 1935 Mickey Mouse cards offered as a single collection. Total 20 cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $2,500/$5,000. SOLD FOR $4,600.00
