Offered is one of the most interesting Mars Attacks related artifacts that could possibly exist: The original preliminary artwork for the top of the Mars Attacks five-cent counter display box. When Topps designed the Mars Attacks display box, this is the preliminary they first prepared for the display box top, designed to capture the attention of youngsters at candy stores, to generate interest, intrigue, and sales. Featuring a weapon-wielding Martian who is pointing the way to Earth's destruction, with comrades, dark skies, and countless invading spaceships in the background. All Mars Attacks artworks are exceedingly rare and highly prized by collectors. This is an extremely important original artwork related to the most classic non-sports issue of the era. The artwork measures 8 x 3 inches. The artwork is accompanied by the original mylar overlay with the Mars Attacks promotional text and lettering hand painted. This overlay is not attached to the artwork, but lays perfectly over the artwork as intended. The artwork can be displayed with or without the original camera-ready mylar overlay.
