1935 Lou Gehrig Single-Signed Baseball

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $4,887.50

Official American League (Harridge) ball is single-signed on a side panel by Lou Gehrig ("5") in black ink. The signature is of medium quality, but is easily read. Gehrig single-signed balls are extremely rare. The ball on which this signature appears can be dated exactly to the year 1935 based on the stitching. The Reach manufacturer's ball stampings are very worn but can be seen. A light coat of protective shellac has been applied over the Gehrig signature. The ball is generally soiled, but is still in overall Very Good condition. This may not be a super high-grade example, but it is a very rare, authentic Lou Gehrig single-signed baseball which still displays well. Lou Gehrig is one of collecting's rarest and most desirable singles. LOAs Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $4,887.50
