1950-1960 Bill Mazeroski Pro Model Bat

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,972.00

This Hillerich & Bradsby signature model D89 has Mazeroski's player number "9" written on the knob end in black marker. The bat shows very light if any use. H&B shipping records indicate delivery of just two orders of these bats to Mazeroski, one on April 5, 1957 and the other on June 2, 1960. Bill Mazeroski, the greatest second baseman in Pirates history, achieved immortality with one swing of the bat on October 13, 1960. He had already made his mark in that World Series against the Yankees with a two-run homer in the opener. Batting in the bottom of the ninth in the seventh game, he drove Ralph Terry's second pitch over the left field wall at Forbes Field to give Pittsburgh a 10-9 win over the almighty Yankees, and its first World Championship since 1925. Mazeroski was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2001. Length: 33.75 inches. Weight: 31 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A5. LOA from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic and John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,972.00
