1965-1968 Hank Aaron Signed Pro Model Bat
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,190.00
Hank Aaron Hillerich & Bradsby signature model A99 has been inscribed on the barrel "Best Wishes - Hank Aaron" in black marker; however, the salutation and signature have been neatly traced over. Remnants of Aaron's player number "44" are visible on the barrel end. The bat exhibits light game use and the handle has spotting of pine tar. Most Aaron bats in collectors' hands date from the 1970s, when every bat he touched or ordered became a treasured keepsake as Aaron closed in on Ruth's record. This is a far rarer and more desirable model dating from heart of the 1960s (1965 to 1968), an era when Aaron's greatness was universally recognized, but memorabilia and bat collecting was virtually nonexistent. This Aaron bat dates from some his finest seasons in the Major Leagues, when arguments raged over who was better: Aaron, Mays, or Mantle. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 34 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A5.5. LOAs from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic, Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence, Steve Grad, John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
