1960 Marilyn Monroe Signed Check

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,740.00

Marilyn Monroe personal check (8.25 x 3 inches) dated February 11, 1960 and drawn on the Colonial Trust Company. The check is made payable to "Rocky Washington" (endorsed by Washington on the reverse) and is beautifully signed in blue fountain pen, "Marilyn Monroe" ("8/9"). The bank stamp cancellation barely touches the first letter of her signature, and imposes no distraction. This is an exceptional example in Near Mint condition. Only a very limited number of Marilyn Monroe checks exist. Almost all have surfaced approximately a half a dozen years ago and already this small supply has practically vanished into collections. Marilyn Monroe is one of the most forged of all celebrity signatures, giving these checks all the more special significance to collectors. This is an ideal personal check example signed by America's most enduring sex symbol. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,740.00
