Circa 1955 Natalie Wood Signed Photograph
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $406.00
Circa 1955 Warner Brothers publicity still (8 x 10 inches) of Natalie Wood (1938-1981) dating from early in her career is boldly signed in blue ink in the upper left "To Rosemary, With love, Natalie Wood" ("9/10"). Roddy McDowell called her "the prettiest girl I've ever seen" and that beauty is evident in this magnificent portrait which captures the vivaciousness and dark, flashing eyes that were Wood's trademark. Natalie Wood first captured moviegoers' imaginations as James Dean's teenage soul mate in Rebel Without A Cause (1955) and also gained notoriety for her roles in Splendor in the Grass (1961) and West Side Story (1961). By her mid-20s Ms. Wood had already earned three Oscar nominations, but it was often her tumultuous private life, full of romance and heartbreak, that garnered headlines. Her life was tragically cut short in 1981 when she drowned following a fall from a yacht owned by her and twice-husband Robert Wagner. This is an ideal signed Official Warner Brothers photograph of one of the silver screen's most enduring legends, dating from the 1950s. In Excellent condition. Beautifully and very professionally matted and framed to total dimensions of 18 x 15.5 inches. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
