1967 Rod Serling Signed Personal Bank Check
Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $812.00
Submitted for your approval...a beautifully preserved signed personal bank check from the account of Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling (1924-1975). Drawn on the joint account of Rod and his wife, Carolyn, the check is written completely in Serling's hand. Dated "Jan. 18, 1967," it is made out in the amount of "$300.00" to the "American Civil Liberties Union" and is signed neatly along the signature line "Rod Serling" ("9/10"), all in black ink. Serling's fondness for the American Civil Liberties Union dates back to his frustrations with censors while as a writer on the early dramatic TV series Playhouse 90. The idea of personal freedom may also have been on his mind as 1967 was the year in which he penned the classic film adaptation of Planet of the Apes. Serling died in 1975 as the result of complications during heart surgery, but will always be remembered as a pioneer in entertainment and television writing. The check is in Excellent to Mint condition with normal bank stampings and cancellations. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300. SOLD FOR $812.00
