No date on the letter, but the postmark on the original transmittal envelope, from Liverpool, reads May 2, 1963. The letter is written to a fan, a Miss Irene Cooley of Liverpool. McCartney writes in full: "Dear Irene, Thanks for writing, it's great to hear from you. I'm glad you enjoyed the show, but I bet you didn't enjoy it as much as we did doing it!! I'll pass the message on to George about the egg and chips!!! Incidentally, if you're interested, the fan club address is:- N.E.M.S. Ltd. 12-14 Whitechapel, Liverpool 18. Thanks for writing, and compliments and things, Bye for now, [signed] love Paul McCartney." Measures 6 x 7 inches. Usual mailing folds, tape marks at extreme corners, otherwise in very good condition. This was obviously a treasured keepsake. This is a very rare signed McCartney letter from the earliest days of the group's great success as stars in Liverpool, England, just as their popularity was beginning to explode with the success of "Please, Please Me," which was released in late March 1963.
