The Miracles and Dick Clark Signed American Bandstand Contract
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $232.00
1962 American Bandstand contract signed by four members of The Miracles ("Smokey" Robinson, using his rare signature form "William Robinson Jr.," Claudette A. Robinson, Ronald White, and Robert E. Rogers) and legendary music mogul Dick Clark. Dated May 28, 1962, this "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract" is an "Agreement between The Miracles and Dick Clark Television Productions, Inc." for The Miracles to perform on the said date at "WFIL-TV, Phila." The Miracles agree to be paid the sum of $322 ("$83 - per") for their efforts. Robinson and White have also added their social security numbers. To the right, Clark has signed as representative of his production company "RW Clark, pres." in green. All signatures are virtually flawless ("9/10"). In 1962 The Miracles soared to new heights with their Top Ten hit "You've Really Got a Hold on Me." The Miracles produced dozens of hits throughout the 1960s including "Mickey's Monkey," "I Second That Emotion," "Shop Around," and "The Tracks of My Tears." Smokey and Claudette got married in 1963, and she retired from the group a year later. Dick Clark, of course, is still active in the music business and is well known to current generations for his annual New Year's Rockin' Eve shows. And he looks younger than ever. This is a magnificent and unique rock-n-roll document linking "Smokey Robinson and The Miracles" and music legend Dick Clark. From the American Bandstand archives. Normal filing punch holes. Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $232.00
