1968 Jim Morrison Endorsed Bank Check
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,856.00
The legendary Jim Morrison of The Doors has endorsed this pristine check on the reverse. The check is endorsed, "J Morrison" ("9") in blue ballpoint. Morrison has added the signature of his one true love, Pamela Courson, signing "P. Courson" ("9") below. The check itself is from the account of Morrison's management firm, Johnson & Harband, and is made out to "James Morrison" in the amount of $2,000. Dated November 30, 1968, it is likely that the purpose of this sizable check was related to the boutique Jim Morrison financed for Pamela Courson called "Themis." This boutique is extremely well documented, and was opened at approximately the time this check was written. In his short and tumultuous life, Morrison left behind few signed items. The most desirable of these are the few verifiably authentic Morrison signatures that appear on official documents and checks, of which this is a stellar example, with the signature entirely unaffected by the bank cancellation marks and stamps. The fact that Morrison has countersigned this check with a "signature" of his girlfriend Pamela Courson gives this document an added very significant personal dimension. Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad and John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,856.00
