1935 R89 Mickey Mouse Complete Set (96)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,190.00

Complete set of the classic 1935 Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum cards issued by Gum., Inc. plus wrapper, both Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum premium albums designed to house the cards, and an unopened 1930s Mickey Mouse Toasted Nut Chocolate bar. Set condition: 50 cards grade Ex, 22 cards grade Vg-Ex/Ex, 24 cards grade Vg-Ex. All are bright and clean with no creases. Cards graded Vg-Ex or Vg-Ex/Ex have been downgraded from Ex almost exclusively due to mostly very minor corner wear. Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum cards are considered by many to be the single most classic 1930s non-sport bubble-gum card set. The brilliant colors, high-quality artwork, and popular subject matter have always made this set a favorite with collectors. It is also worth noting that cards from this set are much scarcer than most collectors realize, and far more difficult to find than most baseball cards of the era (such as Goudeys, National Chicles, Play Balls, etc.). This is a very attractive complete set of one of the most popular of all 1930s gum card sets, with tremendous crossover appeal to both card collectors and Mickey Mouse collectors. The set is accompanied by: 1) A Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum wrapper (Gd). 2) Both Mickey Mouse Picture Card Albums: "Volume 1" designed to house cards #1-48 is Ex; "Volume 2" designed to house cards 49-96 is Vg-Ex and has eleven cards pasted in, as intended. The fronts of ten of the pasted-in cards are Ex or better, one is Vg-Ex. 3) Unopened circa 1930s Mickey Mouse Toasted Nut Chocolate bar manufactured by Wilbur-Suchard Chocolate Company. This bar has a very colorful paper wrapper featuring Mickey Mouse (Vg-Ex). Total 96 cards, wrapper, two albums (one with additional 11 cards), plus candy bar. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
