Circa 1900 Allen & Ginter Tin Advertising Display
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $464.00
Impressive and rare oval tin advertising display, designed to hang on the walls of a tobacco store, advertises for Allen & Ginter's "Richmond Straight Cut Cigarettes." The sign features the famous "Allen & Ginter logo man" enjoying a smoke in the days before anyone knew any better. Incredible quality to the manufacture of this tin sign, which is self-framed and measures an impressive 29 x 23 inches. The size and quality of the display makes this a premier vintage point-of-sale tobacco advertising piece, and the fact that it advertises for Allen & Ginter gives it all the more appeal to collectors. There is some wear to the border frame, but only a couple of scratches in the body of the piece, and some minor rust along the perimeter border which really has to be looked for to see. This sign is in exceptional condition, with far less wear than one would expect to find on an antique tin advertising sign. Overall about Excellent condition, with original bright, bold colors. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $464.00
