1967 Leaf Star Trek Collection (231 cards)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,190.00

Leaf made one of the worst business moves in its history by going ahead with the production of its 1967 "Star Trek" set. The entire first print run was wrapped, boxed, and cased, before Leaf discovered that they were not going to receive the proper licensing approval from Desilu to release the set. They had no alternative other than to destroy the entire inventory. As all collectors are aware, some cases were distributed, although only a few. This is considered to be one of the rarest and most desirable of all 1960s card sets. As the first of the many "Star Trek" card sets to come, it is now considered to be a classic. Offered here is a near complete set of 70 out of 72 cards, missing just two cards for completion (#11 and 19), plus an additional 161 assorted 1967 Leaf "Star Trek" cards, for a total of 231 cards. This assortment includes the following: #3 (3), 5 (2), 6 (3), 7 (2), 10, 12 (5), 15 (3), 16-18, 20, 21 (5), 22 (3), 24 (2), 25 (8), 26 (2), 27 (2), 28 (2), 29, 30 (4), 31 (4), 32 (3), 33 (2), 34 (4), 35 (2), 36 (2), 37, 39 (3), 41 (2), 42 (2), 43 (9), 44 (3), 45 (2), 46 (3), 47, 49 (2), 50 (6), 51 (4), 52 (6), 53 (2), 54 (3), 55 (5), 56 (5), 57 (2), 58 (2), 59 (2), 60 (4), 61 (6), 62, 63 (2), 64 (2), 67 (4), 69 (4), 70, and 72 (3). The near-complete set grades 41% Ex to Ex-Mt and 59% Vg to Vg-Ex. The assortment of cards grades 65% Ex or better, and 35% Vg to Vg-Ex. An additional 46 assorted "Star Trek" cards plus wrapper issued in 1969 by the A&BC Company of England are included. From the Macaluso Collection. Total 277 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
