1910 E271 Darby Chocolates Full Box with Crawford
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $6,380.00
Fewer than fifty cards from the ultra rare Darby Chocolates set are known to exist. This count includes the four full Darby Chocolates boxes known (each of which has two cards). This box features the cards of Hall of Famer Sam Crawford and Pat Dougherty. To the best of our knowledge, this represents the only example known of Crawford, and one of only two examples known of Dougherty (the other known Dougherty has been cut from the box, as intended). The box includes all the flaps and could easily be assembled if desired. A tremendous rarity and one of the finest examples of what many advanced collectors consider one of the most striking, unique, and displayable of all baseball card package-design issues. Light soiling and a minor surface crease at Dougherty's feet technically allow a grade of only Vg-Ex, though the box certainly has a stronger overall appearance. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $6,380.00
