1911 T217 Mono Cigarettes Roger Peckinpaugh

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $3,190.00

Extremely rare sample card of 1911 T217 Mono Cigarettes featuring Roger Peckinpaugh of Portland. The reverse of the card has the Mono Cigarettes advertisement in bold blue printing. The twenty-five-card T217 Mono Cigarettes set is one of the rarest of all Pacific Coast League issues and also one of the rarest of all 1910 era tobacco card issues. Peckinpaugh is a special card in the set as he is the most prominent player featured. Peckinpaugh played briefly with Cleveland in 1910, was with Portland in the PCL in 1911 (the year this card was issued), and then returned to the Major Leagues in 1912 for the second season of what would be a seventeen-year career in the majors. The card has a heavy horizontal crease, a tiny wrinkle near the right border, and evenly rounded corners. The back is clean and crisp. Technically grades Good but has an stronger overall appearance. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
