1914 T222 Fatima Individual Players Collection (17)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,624.00
Collection of seventeen different T222 Fatima player cards issued by the Leggett & Myers Tobacco Company in 1914. The thin photographic stock and fragile glossy surface of these unusual real photo style cards make them especially susceptible to creasing. These individual player Fatima cards are much scarcer than the T200 Fatima team cards. These cards are usually found just a few at a time, and are almost always found in technically low grades. This collection is typical of T222s in terms of condition, though it is also a fairly sizable group for this issue, representing one-third of the set. Although most are technically in low-grade, primarily due to their easily creased surfaces, many display better than their technically accurate grades might suggest. Condition Report: Good (5 cards): Alexander (HOF; scrapbook paper in corners of reverse), Fletcher, Lapp, Murray, and Saier. Fair to Good (7 cards): Bush, Chalmers, Demaree, Houck, Orr, Strunk, and Zimmerman. Poor to Fair (5 cards): Benton, Lobert, Magee, Perdue, and Phelan. Six cards (including Alexander, Lapp, Houck, Benton, and Lobert) have scrapbook paper on their reverses from long ago being mounted in an album. While several cards are very rough, most are still very attractive examples of these distinctive tobacco cards, which advanced collectors recognize are far rarer than their more widely collected tobacco card cousins, such as T205 and T206. Total 17 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
