1928 Philadelphia Athletics Team-Signed BaseBall with Ty Cobb

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Official American League (Ban Johnson) ball is signed in blue ink by 18 members of the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics including four Hall of Famers: Ty Cobb (Cobb has added the date "Sept. 3 - 28" below his signature, "7"), Tris Speaker ("7"), Lefty Grove ("6/7"), Eddie Collins ("4"), Hauser (sweet spot), Bishop, Boley, Orwoll, French, Perkins, Walberg, Quinn (sweet spot), Rommel, Bush and and four additional we could not decipher. Signatures range in grade from "3" to "7" on a scale of "1" to "10," averaging a "5/6" overall. An attractive early team ball, among the most desirable team-signed balls from the 1920s because of Cobb's inclusion on the A's in his final Major League season. It is interesting to note that Cobb retired on September 17, 1928, just two weeks after signing and dating this ball. The ball is lightly toned, and otherwise in Excellent condition, with all manufacturer's markings clear and legible. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $300. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
