Circa 1935 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $4,000.00, Sold For - $9,280.00
Exceptionally high-grade "Leacock Official League" baseball is beautifully single-signed by "Babe Ruth" ("7") in black fountain pen across the sweet spot. All the official ball stampings are extremely bold and distinct. The ball is an ideal cream color and is in Excellent to Mint condition. This is a very rare and particularly attractive style of ball that we have not seen before, manufactured by the Leacock Sporting Goods Company of St. Louis, Missouri. A Babe Ruth signed baseball is one of the few items with an appeal so universal that it transcends all areas of collecting. It is a classic, a standard, and a worthy centerpiece to even the most advanced collection. PSA/DNA now also provides grading for baseballs. Robert Edward Auctions has chosen this as one of several autographed baseballs in the auction to be graded and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, to highlight this recently introduced PSA service. PSA has graded the signature PSA 7 Near Mint, graded the baseball PSA 7 Near Mint, and assigned an overall grade of PSA 7 Near Mint. This is an uncommonly strong high-quality example of this collecting classic, in a grade (both in terms of the ball and the signature) which is ideal for display, yet representing an extraordinary value compared to a higher-grade example which would sell for $50,000+. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $4,000. Estimate $8,000/$12,000. SOLD FOR $9,280.00
