1937 Lou Gehrig Signed Reception List

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,190.00

Several stars of the sporting world, including New York Yankees legend and original "Iron Man" of baseball Lou Gehrig, have signed the back of this four-page mimeograph-style seating assignment list for the 1937 "Father and Son Dinner of the Men's Association Congregation Rodeph Sholom." Lou Gehrig has boldly signed in pencil ("9"). Gehrig was certainly a very honored guest at this event, having just led the Yankees to victory in the 1936 World Series. The seven other signatures include famed basketball coach (and former original Celtics player) Nat Holman ("9") and legendary boxing announcer Sam Taub ("8"), both signed in black fountain pen, and Yale football player Al Hessberg ("8"), who was a 1937 All-American Honorable Mention (blue fountain pen). The seating list has a few small edge tears and creases, and is overall in Very Good condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
