Derek Jeter Autographed 2001 World Series Game 4 Base

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $4,930.00

Actual base from Game 4 of the 2001 World Series. The New York Yankees faced a two-games-to-one deficit at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks heading into Game 4 of the 2001 World Series. The game, scheduled for Halloween night, might have put fear into the hearts of most teams having to face Curt Schilling. Schilling, moved up in the rotation by rookie manager Bob Brenly, did everything Arizona could have asked. But when Byung-Hyun Kim relieved him with a 3-1 lead and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the game turned downright spooky for his team. After Kim allowed a soft single to Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez smashed a two-run homer to tie the game. With two outs in the bottom of the 10th, shortstop Derek Jeter stepped to the plate, having gone only 1-for-15 in the Series. Jeter battled Kim for seven pitches, climbing out of an 0-2 hole. Then, at 12:04 a.m. EST Jeter earned the distinction of "Mr. November," lining the eighth pitch - a fastball on the outer portion of the plate - into the right-field seats for the game-winning home run. The Yankee Stadium crowd erupted as Jeter, pumping his fist in triumph, rounded the bases while the Yankees spilled out of the dugout. The dramatic homer lifted New York past the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 and tied the World Series at two games each. Offered here is the actual base used during this dramatic World Series Game 4, autographed by Jeter ("7") in black marker with the added notation "WS Game 4, Walk off HR, 11-1-01" below his signature. A game-used base is not the easiest surface to sign and even a superstar like Jeter had trouble penning his name to this surface. The base is heavily soiled from game use and was originally obtained from MLB.com (exclusive auction site for game-used equipment from Major League Baseball). Presented in a beautiful custom wood case designed for wall display. Additional COA from Steiner Sports, with whom Derek Jeter has an exclusive memorabilia contract. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $4,930.00
