Autographed 1952 Topps #407 Ed Mathews
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,044.00
Signed example of rare 1952 Topps high-number Ed Mathews. One of the key cards of the 1950s, #407 Mathews is one of only several Hall of Famers among the 1952 Topps high numbers. This is also Mathews' rookie card, and being the last card in the set is rarely found in high grade. The signature is ideal in placement, in ballpoint, and grades a "9" on a scale of "1" to "10." The card is in a very attractive Vg to Vg-Ex due to corner wear and 30/70 L/R centering. Since it is a rare card which has always been very highly prized, few examples have ever been signed. Mathews died in 2001. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
