Extremely unusual and high-quality professionally produced dark leather baseball dating from the 1850s or early 1860s. Four-piece construction with raised seams and interior stitching. The four quadrants are designed with a thick center band, with each of the halves divided in quarters in opposite directions. Materials, style, and dimensions date this ball specifically from the 1850s to the early 1860s. It is rare to find any baseball of such exceptional quality and craftsmanship dating from this early era, let alone with such an unusual design. This is a very distinctive and rare early style baseball. Some general wear as expected due to age but displays beautifully. In overall Excellent condition. Diameter: 8.25 inches. Reserve $400.
