1888 Base-Ball by John Ward

Hardcover first edition of John Ward's baseball book, the entire formal title of which is Base-Ball How To Become A Player with the Origin, History, and Explanation of the Game (The Athletic Publishing Company, Philadelphia, 1888). This is a particularly desirable and very scarce nineteenth-century baseball book, which includes woodcuts of players such as John Clarkson and Doc Bushong. The binding is tight. The original green hardcover, which reads "Base-Ball" in guilt lettering, is in only Good condition due to foxing and general wear; the interior pages have very few minor imperfections and are overall in Very Good to Excellent condition.
