1910 Baseball A Fan For A Fan Collection of Three
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,480.00
Three different of the five fans comprising the extremely rare and popular "A Fan For A Fan" series: Christy Mathewson, Hal Chase, and Larry Doyle (missing only Ty Cobb and recently discovered Frank Baker for completion of the set). Each fan features a beautiful full color portrait of the player set against a baseball design with the heading "A Fan For A Fan" above the portrait. The striking design and colorful graphics of this set make it one of the most attractive and ideal for display of all early baseball issues. The Doyle fan has had some professional restoration, giving it a Near Mint appearance. The Mathewson fan has some minor surface abrasions not affecting the portrait, and is otherwise in Very Good to Excellent condition. The Chase fan has two small tears at the top (apparently resulting from a puncture caused by the top of the wooden handle; very little paper loss) and a single pinhole at 4:00 near the right edge; in Vg condition overall but still displays beautifully. Total 3 fans. Diameter: each 7.5 inches. Handle length: each 5.25 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,480.00
