1924 New York Giants and Washington Senators World Series Programs (2)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $812.00
Set of 1924 World Series programs, one issued at New York, and one issued at Washington. 1) The cover of the majestically designed Giants program features portraits of Hall of Fame managers John McGraw and Bucky Harris. The interior pages include composite photographs of each team. The program is perfectly flat. Close examination reveals the remnants of both a vertical and horizontal fold. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 4. A very attractive Vg-Ex example of this very scarce early 1920s program. 2) The 1924 Washington World Series program, fittingly, features Manager Harris shaking hands with President Coolidge. What this program lacks in color and excitement on the cover is at least in part made up for by its page after page of interior photographs. The Senators captured their only World Championship in franchise history in 1924, with Walter Johnson sealing the series with a victory in Game 7. This program has long ago been exposed to some moisture in the lower right corner of the interior pages, resulting in some water staining and additional damage in the form of tears (some pages have some tears and paper loss from long ago being stuck together). Unscored. Despite faults, the integrity of the program is still very much intact. Total 2 programs. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $812.00
