Circa 1934 Dizzy Dean Figural Ashtray

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $2,204.00

1930s Dizzy Dean glazed ceramic figural ashtray features the great pitcher in full windup in his Cardinals uniform. "Dizzy Dean" appears on the front of the base for display. "Copyright applied for" is engraved on reverse. The figure is very striking, in white with red accents. A baseball with stitching provides support to the figure. There are very few figural pieces from the 1930s featuring specific ballplayers. This is the first time we have ever seen this unusual rarity dating from the glory days of the "Gas House Gang." The figure stands 10 inches tall. Some burn marks in the ashtray section related to use as intended, otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $2,204.00
