1927 New York Yankees Souvenir Team Photograph

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $2,900.00

Extraordinary 1927 New York Yankees souvenir team photograph (8 x 10 inches) with facsimile signatures. We believe this print dates from 1927 and was produced as a souvenir for players or fans. It is of extraordinary quality in all respects. Taken during spring training, the image features an incredible forty-three team members including manager Miller Huggins and coaches. The major stars, such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, are of course included, but because this photograph was taken at spring training, also included are some aspiring Yankees who didn't make the final cut. Each player is identified with a facsimile autograph. Over the years, we have seen two examples of this photograph which are actually signed by the players. On these photos, the players in the front row have actually signed with white ink, just as appears on this print, to allow for ideal contrast when reproduced. The caption "St. Petersburg - Florida - March 20th 1927" appears in the lower left corner. The team photograph includes the following players: Koenig, Morehart, Adams, Paschal, Wera, O'Leary, Gannon, Miller Huggins, G. Davis, Fletcher, Funk, Gazella, Shawkey, Phillips, Shocker, Bengough, Nee, Wood, Bennett, Thomas, Krichell, Dugan, Babe Ruth, Ruether, Collins, Beall, Chesterfield, Hoyt, V. Davis, Flickinger, Moore, Pipgras, Williams, Ferrell, Wiltse, Lou Gehrig, Combs, Meusel, H. Johnson, Giard, Grabowski, Durst, and Lazzeri. At the top of the photo appears the facsimile signatures of four team executives including Ed Barrow and Jacob Ruppert. Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $2,900.00
