1910s to 1950s Baseball Book Collection (34)

Very substantial collection of 34 baseball books spanning the 1910s to the 1950s. Includes: 1) 1910 Won In The Ninth by Christy Mathewson. This is the only title by Mathewson which features a photograph of Mathewson on the cover, making it ideal for display. The 298-page book of baseball fiction has a special instructional section in the back. Published in 1910 by the R.J. Bodmer Company of New York. Overall Excellent condition. 2) 1916 First Base Faulkner by Christy Mathewson. This 328-page book of baseball fiction was published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1916. Excellent condition overall with the dust jacket in Good or better. 3) 1910 Touching Second by Johnny Evers. This 308-page book of baseball was published in 1910 by Reilly & Britton. Great cover images of Evers in action. Overall Very Good to Excellent condition. 4) Thirteen different Putnam hardcover books issued from the early 1940s through the mid 1950s. The Putnam team history series has always been extremely popular with collectors. Each volume features photographs and a wealth of information about a specific team. The thirteen volumes include: Indians (signed by Doby), Tigers (signed by Newhouser and Trucks), Phillies (signed by Ashburn), Braves (signed by Spahn, Holmes, Sain), Cardinals, White Sox, Pirates, Dodgers, Giants, Orioles, Red Sox (signed by author, Frederick Lieb), Cubs, and Senators. Each volume is accompanied by its original dust jacket, and the majority are first printings. The books are in overall Excellent condition (dust jackets in Very Good condition). 5) Fourteen editions (twelve different and two duplicates) of Who's Who In The Major Leagues, dating from 1936 to 1952: 1936 (signed by editor, Harold "Speed" Johnson), 1937 hardbound with dust jacket, 1939, 1941, 1942, 1946 (two; soft cover, and hard cover with dust cover), 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950 (two; soft cover, and hard cover with dust jacket), 1951, and 1952. Some general wear, but overall in Very Good to Excellent condition. 6) Jackie Robinson My Own Story, foreword by Branch Rickey. Published in 1948 by Greenberg. Book and dust jacket are in Excellent condition overall. 7) Jackie Robinson My Own Story published by Avon in 1949. Overall Very Good condition. 8) 1948 Pitchin' Man by Satchel Paige. 96-page soft cover booklet in Excellent condition. 9) Quick weekly publication, dated 10/6/52, with a classic Jackie Robinson cover.
