1986 Darryl Strawberry NY Mets World Series Trophy

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $12,760.00

Darryl Strawberry's personal 1986 World Series Trophy. Boston was just one out away from winning the championship in Game Six of the 1986 World Series when the Mets rallied for three runs and a victory to tie the series. The Mets went on to win Game 7, capturing the World Championship. The 1986 World Series will always be remembered as one of the most exciting ever. Following their victory, Darryl Strawberry, along with his Champion teammates, were each awarded personal World Series trophies. This is the World Series trophy produced by Balfour and awarded to Darryl Strawberry in honor of his being a member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets. The trophy is designed with a seven-inch diameter black base with a surrounding band of gold reading, "World Series Champions - New York Mets - 1986 - Darryl Strawberry." Ringing the base is an angled array of stanchions with flags bearing the names of all the Major League teams, the highest one rising 9.5 inches tall. In the center is a gold crown sitting on an arc above a silver ball and gold teams pins affixed to the base with the logos of the Mets and Red Sox. The player trophies are actually smaller versions of the giant trophies presented to the team. Personal player World Series trophies are rarely offered in the marketplace as they are usually kept by the players. The trophy is accompanied by a signed letter from Darryl Strawberry, on Mets stationary, which memorializes his presentation of the trophy to a friend. The ultimate symbol of victory from one of the key players of the 1986 Mets. Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $12,760.00
